The Dementia Life Family Impact Study
What Are We Studying?
We know that a dementia diagnosis impacts more than just the person diagnosed. This is the reason why Dementia Life exists. We want to be able to properly measure, quantify and shout about the real world impact that having a family member diagnosed has on a family.
Our study focuses on three core areas.
The Financial Impact
A dementia diagnosis can have a devastating impact on a families finances. This can include lost wages, care costs and home modifications.
The Emotional Impact
Emotionally, having a family member, or a friend, with dementia is incredibly tough to handle. While it's difficult to truly express the emotional impact a dementia diagnosis has - this study will attempt to quantify that.
The Social Impact
Withdrawing from social events. Sending your excuses or not doing the things you love. All can, and do, happen post-diagnosis. We aim to measure the varying levels of social isolation that dementia can cause.
